Thanks to all of you for the time you gave to meet with classroom teachers this week in support of your child’s learning and growth. These home-school partnerships are appreciated by all of the staff at East. We hope you found the conferences to be informative and an opportunity to both celebrate the work your child has been undertaking and look ahead to next steps in that learning.
A special thank you also to the PTC and volunteers who made our Book Fair possible on these conference days. How wonderful it was to see such a fabulous selection of books for our eager young readers!
This past Tuesday, a group of more than 70 third and fourth grade East School Singers, under the direction of East music teacher, Mr. Barry Zhou, visited the New Canaan Inn to spread festive cheer and smiles through their music. We are all so very proud of each of these students and how they have come together as a group of East Singers. A special thanks to the PTC for supporting East School Singer shirts that all wore proudly at New Canaan Inn. It was a wonderful show of community and school pride!
These East School Singers have rehearsed weekly before school with Mr. Zhou since October. In addition to the New Canaan Inn visit, our East School Singers performed an in-school concert for grades 1-4 earlier in the month and this past Thursday they performed an evening concert for parents and community members. What a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday season!
Our kindergarten classes will host their annual Kindergarten Holiday Sing-Along for their parents and friends this Friday, December 16th at 2:30PM. This is always a favorite event with many smiles on and off the stage! (Please note that older siblings are not able to attend due to limited seating and to be respectful of other classes at work.)
P.S. Do you have a preschooler who will be joining East for kindergarten in the fall of 2017? Do you have a neighbor or friend with a preschooler coming in the fall? Please be sure to attend to the NCPS Kindergarten Transition meeting being held here at East on January 12th at 9:30AM … more information is on the PTC website. Thanks!
