Congratulations to over 150 East School scientists who shared their investigations and experiments with us at our recent East School Science Fair. It was a wonderful day of learning for all!
Last Monday marked a special day for our K-1 students at East. They celebrated our 100th Day of School this year! This was an opportunity to explore counting (by 5s, by 10s, and more) to 100 and students undertook many creative projects that allowed them to organize groups that total 100. In classrooms, students also reflected on all that they have learned in these first 100 days of the school year. For our youngest students, this is a very special day and their enthusiasm and excitement was evident in every classroom I visited!
This Tuesday, February 14th, we not only celebrate Valentine’s Day, but we also invite students at East School to wear red in support of allergy awareness. Wearing red in support of allergy awareness has been promoted by such organizations as the Red Sneakers Foundation that some families in our community may be familiar with. At this time of year when students are often exchanging treats, this is an opportunity to remind children of the seriousness of food allergies, especially nut allergies. Classroom teachers will discuss our “school rules” that are in place regarding food allergies (such as not sharing food at lunch) during the month of February.
New Canaan Public School's Tech Night is once again bringing together students and technology! Students from grades K-12 are encouraged to design and develop extracurricular projects outside and inside of the classroom showing exceptional uses of technology. Tech Night will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, 6:30-8:00PM at New Canaan High School.
You can find more information about Tech Night on the NCPS website link: http://www.ncps-k12.org/Domain/805
Enjoy this week and the vacation week ahead!
