Social Studies Course Curriculum

9th Grade: World History I

9th Grade students take World History I. The course covers the history of the world from the development of civilization through the Columbian exchange, and asks students to work toward mastery in several areas of historical thinking including:

  • Chronological Reasoning

    • historical causation

    • patterns of continuity and change over time

    • periodization

  • Comparison and Contextualization

  • Crafting Historical Arguments from Historical Evidence

  • Historical Interpretation and Synthesis

World History I - Curriculum Guide

10th Grade: World History II/AP World History: Modern

10th Grade students take either World History II or Advanced Placement World History: Modern. Both courses cover the history of the world from the Columbian exchange through the present day, culminating in a grade-wide series of Model United Nations simulations that ask students to apply their understanding of complex historical forces to current issues facing the world and to simulations of key moments in world history.
