NEW CANAAN, CT (May 17, 2023) – The New Canaan Public Schools are pleased to announce Mrs. Alexandra Rogowski will be joining our district as the new Director of Preschool Programs. Having spent her career helping children develop positive emotional and behavioral learning schools, Mrs. Rogowski, a certified school psychologist, will be joining the NCPS on July 1, 2023. In her new role, she will be responsible for the daily operation, management, and leadership of the NCPS Preschool Program and its early childhood programs and services.
Dr. Bryan Luizzi, Superintendent of Schools, shared, “After hearing the feedback from the interview committee, and having met with Alexandra myself, I am impressed by her professional background and varied experiences as an educator and leader. Additionally, and even more importantly, her understanding of and love for our youngest students and their families is inspiring, and we’re looking forward to what’s ahead for our already strong preschool program under Alexandra’s leadership.”
Mrs. Rogowski received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Marist College and her Master of Science degree in School Psychology from Long Island University. She has continued to pursue her education in psychology and is soon to complete a secondary master’s degree in Education Leadership at her alma mater, LIU.
Alexandra has successfully supported the mental health and well-being of children throughout her career. For five years, she worked as a Preschool Psychologist at the Barlow Mountain Elementary School in Ridgefield, CT, where she also completed an administrative internship at the Ridgefield Public Schools. She also has experience as a Milieu Manager/Mental Health Coordinator at Four Winds Hospital in Katonah, NY, a mental-health treatment center for serving adolescents and adults throughout Westchester County and southern Connecticut.
Dr. Luizzi would like to thank the interviewing committee for their willingness to serve and for their outstanding work. “Representing faculty, staff, the New Canaan Board of Education, building administration, and district administration, the committee met with several high-potential candidates in their search to find our next director. In the end, one stood out above the rest, and we are eager and excited for Alexandra to get started.”
