(NEW CANAAN, CT) November 10, 2024 - Three students from New Canaan High School's Model United Nations (Model UN) team achieved extraordinary success at the University of Connecticut Model United Nations Conference (UCMUN), earning top honors in this highly competitive event. The honors represent not only a noteworthy achievement for each of these students, but collectively for the NCHS Model UN Team, as the UCMUN conference was the club's first ever attendance at the University of Connecticut.

The following delegates were recognized for their exceptional performances:

  • Jack Dalipi: Awarded Best Delegate in the Economic and Financial Committee (ECOFIN).

  • Jordan Alexander: Awarded Best Delegate in the Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL).

  • Daisy Marasciullo: Awarded Outstanding Delegate in the World Health Organization (WHO).

The University of Connecticut Model United Nations Conference (UCMUN) is a premier annual event that brings high school students together to engage in dynamic simulations of global diplomacy. This year, the conference welcomed over 300 students from more than 20 schools, representing a wide range of interests and skill levels across grades 9-12. Participants were assigned to one of 13 committees, where they tackled pressing global challenges such as economic crises, public health emergencies, and political instability, and presented compelling arguments based on research and rhetoric in support of their model country and/or organization.

Congratulations to our talented students and their families on this marvelous achievement!
