February 15th is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day. Five of our New Canaan Police Officers are stationed at our public schools to protect faculty and students and serve as mentors by building relationships with our youngest residents in town.
We would like to thank Ofc. Deak, Ofc. Bentley, Ofc. Gibson, Ofc. Blank and Ofc. Vartuli for their dedication to their roles each and every day!

Several of our officers were able to participate in South School’s Share-a-Story event. Since 1985, South School has invited guest readers from the community to partake in this yearly event. We were honored to be included and to help promote reading!

🌟#StudentSpotlight x TEDx Talk!🌟 Meet Zane Tickoo, a junior at #NCHS, who’s inspiring TEDx talk is giving us all food for thought! 🥦🚜
On December 1st, Zane took the stage at TEDx Hartford to explore the journey from farm to table and how small steps—like supporting local farmers and community gardens—can spark meaningful change 🌱
His message goes beyond healthy eating—it’s a passionate call to rethink agriculture and embrace sustainability for a better quality of life. His talk is a powerful reminder that the choices we make today shape the world of tomorrow. 🌍💚💡

Our amazing #NCHS Student Coalition and Charity Link members joined forces to collect and donate over $3,500 worth of toys to the Marine Corps #ToysForTots program! These toys will be distributed to organizations in Fairfield County, bringing smiles to countless children in need this holiday season.
A HUGE thank you to all of our incredible students and their families who's generosity is making a meaningful difference! 🎄❄️🕎

🎄🎅 Elf Jr. The Musical! was a holly-jolly hit! Our 5th and 6th graders from #SaxeIntermediate brought Buddy the Elf’s heartwarming journey to life! From NYC skyscrapers to Macy’s holiday chaos, the cast and crew did an amazing job putting on an unforgettable show!✨

❄️ #FridaySmiles Spreading Holiday Cheer! ❄️ Our #EastSchool students brought on the holiday cheer during a heartwarming visit to Waveny Inn!
Together, students and residents made festive crafts like pom-pom wreaths and ornaments, read their favorite snowy-season books out loud, and drew holiday cards for their newfound friends.

The first annual “Meet The Choirs” Fall vocal festival was a huge success! The East School Singers, Saxe Middle School Chorus, NCHS Concert Choir, Da-Capo, Bella Voce, and Madrigals all had incredible performances to share! Thank you to all who attended.

Who would win? Author vs. Author Edition! 📚🐊
Exciting day! On Tuesday, #WestSchool welcomed the incredible Jerry Pallotta, author of the “Who Would Win?” series, to stop by and talk to our students.
But that’s not all! - During his talk, our librarian shared how one of our very own #WestSchool students, 4th grader, Patrick Molloy, was so inspired by Jerry’s books that we wrote his own for the school library - and it’s been checked out a whopping 42 times! 🎉🙌
Jerry was so impressed that he invited Patrick on stage to celebrate and sign his book! What a moment! This is proof that when kids set their minds to something, they can achieve anything! 🚀💫

🌱 #SouthSchool’s Garden Harvest Days were a hit!
Last week, #SouthSchool students gathered to harvest the vegetables they planted last spring—a project brought to life by incredible family volunteers over the summer and fall. This year’s abundant harvest included fresh parsley, sour gherkin cucumbers, green beans, cherry tomatoes, and more, plus fragrant flowers, seed pods, and mini pumpkins! 🌻🥒
Thanks to our dedicated Garden Committee, students learned about organic gardening, the importance of pollinators, and giving back to the community. Over 60 pounds of produce were donated to charities to support local families with food insecurity. 🌎💚
A huge thank you to our Garden Team and all the families who kept our garden thriving! We’ll see you in 2025 for another season of growth and giving!

The New Canaan Fire Department visited #EastSchool for an awesome fire safety lesson! 🚒👩🚒 Students learned what a firefighter looks like in full gear, how to stay calm during an emergency, and the importance of having a family meeting spot. Thanks to our firefighters for keeping us informed and safe! 🔥🙌

🚨 Important Safety Reminder! 🚨
Student safety is everyone’s responsibility! When a school bus has its red stop sign out, it’s the law to come to a full stop—no exceptions!
Recently, we’ve had multiple dangerous incidents along our school routes, especially near Farm Road, where drivers have been speeding near crosswalks and even passing school buses with their stop signs out. Not only is this illegal, but it puts our student’s safety at risk and leads to costly traffic tickets and fines. 🚓
Whether on the road or school property, please stay alert, follow the traffic laws, and always stop for school buses. Our students’ safety depends on it! 🚌👮♂️

Celebrating 100 years of Bristow Park & Bird Sanctuary! 🌳✨
Our 24-25 NCHS Madrigal Ensemble had the honor of performing at this centennial, continuing a tradition that began when NCHS choir members sang Dona Nobis Pacem at the park’s original dedication. This year, they performed Grant Us Peace by Bruce Tippette under the newly unveiled Saint Francis of Assisi statue.
The event also featured a premiere by New Canaan’s own Gwyneth Walker, performed by Harmonia V, and featuring retired Saxe MS band teacher Janet Rosen. 💫
A huge thanks to all the town dignitaries, organizations, and the inspiring keynote speaker who made this incredible restoration effort possible! 🌱🌿
