East School welcomed professional musicians Andrew Armstrong, and cellist Ani Aznavoorian to conduct a special performance for students in our Grade 2 and Grade 4 Specials Classes. Both Armstrong and Aznavoorian are East School alumni with established careers in the field of music.
The performance, which was held on March 2nd, was an incredible opportunity for students to see how their music skills could progress and to learn more about life as a professional musician.
Both Mr. Armstrong and Ms. Aznavoorian took the time to speak on the process of creating and performing their music, including where they draw their inspiration from and how they feel being able to perform their own music. They also spoke in great detail about experiencing instrumental music as an art form and letting your personality and feelings show through in each of your pieces.
Mr. Armstrong, who attended East School as a student in the 1980s, was also able to take took a tour of the building. As he walked, he provided historical insights into former versions of the layout of the building and his many fond memories of teachers and his years at East.
It was a touching experience for all!
