East Elementary School -

Recently, we marked our first performing arts assembly of the year at East School as we welcomed the Cool Cats Jazz performance group. This jazz band used a "time machine" metaphor in their “Roots of Jazz” program to introduce students to a wide range of music and instruments that spanned nearly 200 years in the United States. This included New Orleans jazz and swing to the faster beat of "rock and roll" over the years. This was an interactive experience with students clapping along, experiencing instruments, and learning about the beat counts used in this music genre. It was a performance enjoyed by all and we thank the East PTC Visual and Performing Arts committee for supporting this experience.
