Dear NCHS Parents and Guardians,
New Canaan High School's annual Open House will be held on Thursday, September 12th. This evening, you can meet your child’s teachers and become acquainted with their classes and schedule. The format does not allow for individual parent-teacher conferences, but such meetings may be scheduled at mutually convenient times in the future.
All class visitations will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a special Orientation for parents of freshmen starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Auditorium. The school administrators will be available throughout the evening in the Main Lobby to welcome you and answer any questions you may have. National Honor Society students will also be positioned throughout the building to help you find the proper rooms and “get to class on time.”
Important details about the evening:
Printed copies of students’ schedules will not be available.
We will follow an A and B Day Schedule. Classes 1 through 8 will meet in order. Please click here for the Open House schedule. To help navigate the evening, fill in the form with your child’s schedule or take a picture of it.
Freshmen parents will meet with administration beginning at 6:30 pm in the auditorium.
All grade levels will begin class meetings at 7:00 p.m.
The 9th-grade Health Education teachers will be in Room 201, the 10th-grade Health Education teachers in Room 202, and the Physical Education teachers in the Main Gymnasium. Please drop in during your students' assigned or free period.
Support classes and classes that meet for less than a full block will be drop-ins to meet the teacher (e.g., ACES//Writing Center/Math Center/Learning Center).
Science Research elective will meet during period 3, regardless of which section your student is in.
Science Classes: Parents should only attend the full Science class—minis will not meet. For example, if the schedule for the science class is 3.1(A, E), 7.1(A-H), or 7.2(A-H), this class will meet during period 7 but not period 3.
Additional parking will be available at South School and Saxe.
You are always welcome to contact the grade-level administrator or me with any questions or concerns about your child. We hope the 2024-2025 school year is rewarding for your child.
Thank you for your continued support; if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
William Egan, NCHS Prinicpal
