Over the weekend, senior Nate Moor represented NCHS and Connecticut at the National K-12 Grade Championships in National Harbor, MD, and came in fourth place in the 12th-grade section (CSCA (chessct.org)). In the final round, Nate, needing a victory with the black pieces to win the tournament, played the top seed from Florida on board one in a game that ended in a draw (National Champions Crowned at National Harbor | US Chess.org). A record 2,463 competitors from 42 states participated in the tournament, which surpassed the prior record of 1,827 in 2017 (2022 K-12 Grade Championships Results | US Chess.org). That is very impressive, Nate. Congratulations!
