On October 16th, our West School students illuminated the halls with the second annual Book Character Pumpkin Museum! The pumpkin museum will be on display from October 16th to October 27th in the Brown Bag Theater and is welcome to all West students and families to view.
The Book Character Pumpkin Museum is an annual event that allows students K-4 to showcase their creativity and highlight their favorite story by decorating a pumpkin that represents a character from their favorite book. Students from all grade levels are invited to participate.
Our students were quite imaginative with their creations this year, ranging from the iconic red angry bird to Baby Yoda to even a space cat with pizza!.
Overseeing this year's project is Patrick Murren, Library Media Specialist for West Elementary School, who had this to say about why "Anytime we can all come together, students, parents, and teachers, around reading, it is a powerful event. It sends a strong message to all students that all members of the community value reading very much. Plus, it's fun."
Murren continues, "I'm so happy with all the pumpkins. I just can't believe how creative students were and love looking at each of them."
We are so proud of our students who participated this year and applaud their exemplary hard work and creativity.
