To this end, we are dedicated to reviewing all digital resources used by the district to ensure that they are safe and secure resources for our students and staff. We comply with all state and federal requirements regarding student data and follow a careful review process when considering new instructional or curricular resources.

These pages are intended to serve as a resource for answering questions that you may have regarding a variety of student data privacy matters. You will also find a comprehensive list of all reviewed digital resources by clicking on the Digital Resources List on the left side of the page.

Community Notification - Jan 9, 2025

Dear NCPS Community, We were recently notified by PowerSchool, our student information system provider, of a global security breach affecting thousands of schools and districts. Although PowerSchool’s notice stated that our particular system was not affected (“…although your product was not impacted…”), we immediately began a thorough review of our systems to verify that no unauthorized access occurred. Our initial analysis is ongoing, and despite PowerSchool’s assurances, we have reason to believe our system may have been impacted. Out of an abundance of caution, we are following all established cybersecurity protocols, including sending this notification and conducting a detailed review of all systems. We will share any updates with you as soon as we have more information. PowerSchool has indicated that the breach is contained and that it has found no evidence of malware or continued unauthorized activity within its environment. However, we will continue to conduct our own investigation to ensure there is no impact on NCPS systems. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to protect our students’ and staff’s data. Best regards, Bryan
